Wed & Thurs – 26th & 27th June

Up fairly early on Wednesday to catch the tide for the 20 odd mile sail to Jamestown, Rhode island. Sadly there was barely any wind today and so we motored most of the way downwind to Dutch Harbour on the west side of the island.

Here we were greeted by Craig & Karene on Il Sogno and in the evening we all went out to the ‘pub’ in town where I at least enjoyed a good (few) pints of Guinness and fish & chips!

Craig and Karene have their car here and so very helpfully, they drove us around on Thursday to various places to try to sort out issues with AT & T and others. Sarah managed to make an appointment to get her hair cut on Friday at the same place she went to last year so she is looking forward to that!

In the evening C & K invited us over for a great meal and when it came to go home, we found that fog had descended and we had a bit of a debate as to where Serafina was! The good news was that at the last minute I remembered the remote light that we fitted last year and one quick press of the button and through the murky mist we saw the pool of light appear roughly where we had been expecting it.

Forecast is for big winds and heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms – and believe you me, the USA does do big thunderstorms……  Oh joy – none of this was in the brochure I read.
