We have been storming along at 6 knots even with a severely reefed mainsail in 18 knot winds from the north towards Gambia, and should arrive Saturday afternoon. At 1100 Friday 17th Dec we are at 14:26.78N 19:10.37W.
Deby is baking bread, fishing lines are out as we only have one portion of fish in the fridge, heavy clouds obscured the stars last night but at least the powerful moon shone through. The entrance to the Gambia River seems well charted, and we will probably go to Lamin Lodge then on Monday go back the 5 miles to Banjul to clear in with the authorities (who apparently dont work weekends), as the anchorage by the port is by repute the nastiest part of Gambia, with thefts etc from boats.
