Mango Creek, Port Royal, Roatan (Cont.) (Cont.)

Beaujolais

Hmmm, what can I say? The best laid plans etc etc. Today is Friday 6th Mar and we are still in Port Royal.

As you know, there is an unwritten law about cruising, there is no such thing as a firm plan.

Roger has to abandon me, once again, so we had decided we would have no choice but to head directly for Shelter Bay in Panama, which is the marina we will be leaving Beaujolais at the end of this cruising season. This would really mess up our cruising plans and finding another marina between here and Panama was proving to be impossible.

Then someone suggested Cartagena in Columbia, which had never been part of our original plan.

Apparently it is a beautiful city. Certain groups have also declared it a neutral zone where no one is allowed to commit any crimes as it is where they all take their families on holiday, so it is also quite safe.

The more people we spoke to, the more it seemed to be a better option (for me at least). So we have been busy changing routing plans to make it possible..

I have also been doing some work ashore for Terry, together with Cindy from Tashmou. So our days have been fully occupied and our brains stimulated and with the beautiful surrounding and weather we have found it difficult to leave. So we decided that rather than sail to Guanaja we would miss it out all together and stay here for a couple more days.

Then last night we had decided we would leave today. Over pre dinner drinks we were telling Cindy who said, ‘so where are you going to clear out of Honduras? Guanaja?’ Oh my goodness, we had completely forgotten about clearing out! We would have arrived at Isla Providencia with no Zarpe!!!! So it was back to plan c (or was it f?), clear out in Guanaja.  Then the question arose; could we clear out over the weekend?? So we came up with a new plan. We will leave here on Sunday, sail to Guanaja, clear out Monday and sail to Isla Providencia, and then sailing straight accross to Cartagena. It will be our longest sea passage to date, but we have to do it sometime!!

You may be asking why there are no photos? Remember when Roger last abandoned me?

Well I ordered two replacement batteries to be posted to the hotel he was staying at so that he could bring them out with him, they didn’t arrive before he left and my battery is not holding a charge! So after dropping my Panasonic in the sea I thought I would be able to use my underwater camera, but that’s the one that needs the batteries, so I have nothing now!!! It is so frustrating seeing beautiful things, people and places and not being able to record it for posterity!
