We awoke to yet another grey wet day and to discover that the bow thruster was faulty (the control stick had no effect and the bow thruster would come on as soon as the isolator switch was turned on).  This has been a perennial problem and Lewmar have twice supplied new control sticks as they assumed that water had managed to get into the control unit and cause a short.  However, this time we discovered that it was not the control unit itself (and probably never has been) but the connecting leads and a quick squirt of WD40 sorted out the problem.

On a gloriously sunny day, spending the day relaxing in Cala Formentor would have been very pleasant.  But in the rain we decided instead to motor a couple of miles down the coast and explore the town of Pollensa.  This is another place that would be very beautiful in the sun.  There is a marina with lots of 100 Euro a night berths which are largely empty as it is free and easy to anchor in the bay close to the marina (which we did) or pick up a free mooring buoy a bit further out.  Puerto Pollensa is on the coast with a nice beach and touristy shops, the old town of Pollensa is a 9 Euro taxi ride away and well worth a visit.  Picturesque with plenty of cafes, bars and restaurants in the squares and numerous trendy boutiques, it is well worth a visit.  We stayed for dinner and ate a local restaurant, La Fonda, that was recommended to us for traditional Majorcan fare and it was very good.

We returned to the boat where I retired to bed and the crew did the usual crew thing of drinking into the early hours.  I do not hold out much hope for tomorrow's 8 o'clock start.
