It rained today. The plan had been to leave
at lunch time and sail through the night to Menorca but with torrential rain for
most of the day we decided to stay dry. We also experienced yet another
mechanical failure when we found that the windlass was not
working. Fortunately the fault was rectified fairly quickly and the crew
are relieved that they were not going to have to spend the week hauling up the
anchor by hand.
The weather for the rest of the week looks fairly
grim with really strong winds forecast, particularly at end of the
week. We have therefore decided to give Menorca a miss and sail directly
to Mallorca. I do not want to risk not being able to get back for the
crew change at the weekend. I am writing this at 3:30 on Tuesday
morning and we are just about to leave. The winds are fairly light
and fortunately it is no longer raining.
