We had a grand sail down from Rodney Bay - some 20 miles
- in light east north east winds but were dampened by squalls with heavy rain.
fishing didn't go well either so entered the bay somewhat apprehensively. We
were approached by a number of 'boat boys' and our initial suspicions were
allayed when a couple of helpful individuals seemed to understand our desire for
a SMMA (the park rangers) bouy and led us to one to the south of the town. The
rain continued off and on but in the end we braved a foray into town by
dinghy.
Waved onto the dinghy dock by a helpful fellow - we tied
up and made our way into town. We had missed the rangers office by 5 minutes but
had a wander - found a pretty amazing large Catholic church and old French
colonial style buildings - albeit somewhat ramshackled. After a wander around
the local mini market we found a beer and wifi in a bar overlooking the harbour
petrol station that had a huge bank of speakers along one wall. - Note to
self don't go there on a Friday night when the speakers are driven into
action
We returned to the boat having made arrangements - with
the helpful fellow mentioned earlier - to go up to the sulphur springs the
following day
We were pleased to see that several of the moorings had
been taken and looked like they had settled for the night. We pulled the dinghy
and stern swim platform up and settled down for an early
night
