As we have headed north we have been able to open
Associate up to a better wind angle - hence we have had our best day to date -
measured from 1800 - 1800 = 157 miles at an average speed of 6.4 miles - as we
had a stop in a squall overnight this is quite good - and as I type we are
hitting 8+ knots - before we put our night rig in place with 3 reefs in the
main. We are expecting 25 knots plus tonight so will batten down carefully.
After tonight it all becomes very benign again....hopefully with enough wind to
get us to St Lucia
Another sunny and hot day cooled by the winds but still
no other craft have been seen - now 5 days without seeing another
soul
517 miles to go - less than we did to get across Biscay
and from Lagos to Canaries. So near yet so
far..........
