Our windy day improved through the night with the 30
knot gusts giving way to more gentle 20 knots pus and with it the seas moderated
somewhat. Following a bit of a battle with a moaning water generator - we
had to empty a locker to see why it had suddenly started to make a horrible
noise just when we started the diesel generator we enjoyed a lasagne supper and
then settled into our night routine. (We never did find out what the noise
was from the generator and it is fine this morning - its French so what do we
expect?) The sun went down at about 20:30 and this led to the most amazing
sky I had ever seen - by about 22:00 all the heavens were available in our
hemisphere including the milky way. This only improved as the night wore on
and with no moon until 03:30 it was fantastic to see and using my Star Walk app
was able to identify some of the major constellations. Don't ask me to repeat
this new found knowledge when on land
Dawn broke over a much calmer sea and lighter winds -
15- 22 knots so have enjoyed breakfast and showers before perhaps
some more sail to speed us up in warm winds and cloudless
sky
