This time last night (17:30) we were sailing into strong gale force winds with squalls - containing lightening that gave a spectacular light show and heavy rain that none of us had experienced before that fell like steroids.............and that hurt! Today we have experienced a wonderful sail in a glorious breeze and bright blue sea that was slowly becoming calmer following last nights' shenanigans. This afternoon we were sailing in 15 -18 knots sharing each others playlists including Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" with no other craft in sight - just the six of us on our little sailing boat in the middle of an ocean - a truly surreal experience

In the early hours of this morning when the weather was at its worse we rediscovered the wisdom of older mariners of just stopping until dawn and in our case when the worst of the weather would be over. We slept better and well into the morning and felt a lot better for it. Associate, of course, never faltered
The ARC radio net reported most other boats deploying similar tactics having experienced a miserable night with some yachts 100 miles to the north reporting two days of 40+ knot winds and very rough seas

If the weather forecasters are to be believed we are done with the heavy weather and should punch into the trade winds on Monday following a quiet day of motoring tomorrow
