Apologies - it appears that the blog written on the last night before we arrived did not get posted so our thoughts on our approach to St Lucia will only ever be known to King Neptune. Suffice it to say that we were pleased that the adventure was coming to a close but equally thoughtful about what we had achieved. A star filled sky covered our final approaches under engine as the light looms from Barbados, Martinique and finally St Lucia heralded our landfall - the first for 23 days

The wind remained fickle but we slowed ourselves down so that we would approach at dawn and cross the finish line in daylight

Earlier we had thoroughly enjoyed the inaugural recital from the ARC Poets Society (Associate Chapter) as Jan and Will read the pieces that they had composed through the voyage. The three poems were thoughtful and poignant and well received by the specially invited audience

At 06:30.49 local time (10:30 GMT) we passed between the committee boat and her ODM  having logged 2891 miles at an average speed of 5.26 knots having spent 22 days and 21.5 hours at sea
We firstly thanked and then tidied Associate and made our way into Rodney Bay marina to our welcoming rum punch and fruit bowl - tired but elated
