Hard to believe how different this ARC is from the
ARC 2009, the sea is smoother the wind less, we havent faced any squalls up to
now. The temperature started been hotter much earlier than 2009. The
swell seems higher but with a 10sec frequency yoiu feel much smoother
and with this size of the boat the trip is very pleasant even for people who get
easily seasick.
Yesterday night it was a nightmare, the wind
had dropped and the VMG dropped to the worst figures. We have been trying
to keep high but the progress was very bad.
This morning Challenger 4 has taken the 3rd
place although 165nm afurther way than us from destination. All what we
gained during the day we lost it during the night. Now sailing with a
1kts/8.4kts and a course off Santa Lucia 230deeg.
The boat is beautiful but doesnt sail on a dead run
so we have to gybe relatively often.
The sea is beautiful with a great blue and a very
clear sky, few small clouds and a strong sun.
I remember that 2009 we were sailing with
more wind and steadier making Armenistis going on a dead run slower but easier.
..I miss it! so fifferent to sail your own vessel!!
