South Atlantic rescue for the Lord and Lady of Hollinsclough.

Carl Lomas is proud and honoured to hold the title Lord of Hollinsclough.

A manorial title, the boundaries of Hollinsclough can be traced to the Doomseday book. The Lomas name has long been associated with Hollinsclough.

The present day church in Hollinsclough was built by John Lomas in 1797. In recent times Carl Lomas has focused his energy toward Hollinsclough School, providing matched funding for the new library block. Extensive support to learning systems and materials and funded extra curricular activities including swimming and music lessons.

The Hollinsclough title was not purchased at auction, with Gods will the title will follow its next hereditary descendant step from Carl Lomas to his eldest daughter Caitland.

The Royal College of Arms granted the heraldry of the present Lomas generation. This includes the insignia of a Derbyshire ram above a blue shield with white chevrons,  six wheels representing the families present day involvement in transport stand to either side of the chevrons.

The family moto ‘Every day is an adventure’ was particularly apt for the families encounter with an ice berg on their yacht Hollinsclough Oyster in the South Atlantic for which the family owe their lives to the bravery and determination of the Royal Navy Warship HMS Clyde who rescued them north of South Georgia.

The family is returning from the South Atlantic to their Derbyshire home of Primitive Hall. The modern day home was named in honour of the original eighteen thirties Primitive Methodist Church and school from which it was restored more than twenty years ago.
