South Atlantic stew from Stanley
Thursday
evening for hot West Store Falklands stew in the South Atlantic. Hot
stew for tea, best mince from West Store Stanley on the Falklands. Wind calming
a little but walls of water like the rolling hills of the Peak District back
home in Derbyshire. Wild views on the top of the crest and not a sight of a
sausage down below. Bedtime with wind falling and time for a little help from
the Perkins iron sail about midnight. Very good radar images but getting cold.
Full blown quilt inside the canopy for darkness watch on the
computers. Wild
red morning sunshine for a Friday with no fish at Woodbines fish and chip Cafe
Stanley. Smell of the burger van at the FIC Visitor Jetty was far far away.
Outside of the range of the Typhoon fighters we were all alone. Three hundred
miles out and four hundred and eighty short of Grytvykn South Georgia.
Eleven local Friday 19 March 52.43.00 S 49.33.00 W Swell
like waves but a sensible ride, lots of sail still out to harness nature and
stabilise the yacht. Sea sickness behind us and sleep deprivation under control.
Time for a pot noodle. |
