Fortescue Bay, Wigwam Island Tuesday afternoon March 3rd

In the soft sunshine around seventy three west we spotted the French sail yacht En Chemin dn  Cygne. The girl’s school work went direct to languages and French for a chat on the VHF.

Fortescue Bay lay close to Starboard by afternoon, one of the oldest charted anchorages on the strait, mapped since the seventeen hundreds. French lessons over it was time for history, back to Magellan, Darwin and Joshua Slocum. Shallow depths and a turn around Wigwam island to drop the anchor at 53.41.40 S 71.59.70 W. Like Indians before us we made a small fire but ours was not war signals, it was for marshmallows. Sunset in the shadows of mountains the size of Snowdon with toasted toffee.
