Glacier Pio XI 49.13.00S
74.00.50W
Jan 05 Took a day around the enourmous glacier
Pio X1. True magic of nature, blue ice, white water and mugs of steamy tea in
hand. The Seno Eyre depths moved from 800m to 50, must be as mountanous
below as the view above. Snow capped panarama, Mount Fitzroy and Mount Piramide
making 3000m
Returned to easy anchorage for evening, flat as a
floor board. Hardly a few miles from the glacier in a nook of lush green trees,
trips ashore to roast marsh mellows at the camp fire.
Many dolphins, unsure what they get upto, water
cream like milk, very poor visability for them and no salt, must check the text
books?
Weather still warm for glacier
country. |
