New Years Eve Isla Wellington
Hollinsclough - Is the World Round?
Thu 31 Dec 2009 20:41
Happy New Year. South of Gulf of Pain, Caleta Point Lay, Island of Little Wellington 48.20.36S
74.33.50W
40knt winds for the push to Rapier light house.
Recorded 47.6 on our wind dial, Windex registering force 8 all along the north
coast of Bay Anna Pink. A new record
speed at 15.1knots over ground. Wind with tide and across the swell for roller
coaster run. They were monsters on the back door, one pooping to be shure, 190
miles of ground in 23 hours.
Another magical anchorage below an enormous
waterfall, green allgy around the kelp with a mixture of ocean and fresh
mountain water. Wild brown otters in the bay and a French yacht called Savana
which we have tied alongside in a sort of six point strap to shore.
Will celebrate our time 9pm to coordinate with
Blighty and get an early evening. Life on the ocean wave and all. Team fry up for dinner, thats a sailing celebration before a
glass of French red with our new
neighbours. |
