We're loving New England. We spent three days in Mystic allowing the wind to subside & then sailed to Newport for many years home of the Americas Cup & more importantly for us the home of J Boats. We picked up a mooring ball at the Ida Lewis Yacht Club, the only reciprocal we enjoy on the East coast as members of the Royal Southern. They were extremely hospitable & enjoy a fine location on a rock about 100m out into the bay, under the watchful eye of the New York Yacht Club's superb clubhouse. We also met up again with Tony & Judy of Lime'n, a lovely couple we'd first met in Atlantic City. The town itself was buzzing & the harbour was absolutely full of yachts from Optimists to Volvo 70's. Some of the properties around Newport are simply unbelievable enjoying the patronage of long established American families such as the Vanderbilts. We called in at J Boats & were privileged to meet Alan Johnstone, the designer of the J122. Newport will retain a special place in our memories.

Best wishes from Peter & Christene
