The wind has finally gone Northerly but unless a sea breeze develops it's not strong enough to sail the distance between suitable harbours which is normally at least 30nm & up to 75nm. For most of the motor from Castillo to Leixoes (the commercial port of Porto) we were picking our way between (literally) thousands of fishing pots. The coastline has also changed markedly since NW Spain with long straight beaches & gentle hills behind. Porto is a city of contrasts, from grand stone buildings & churches to tired apartment blocks & dark narrow old cobbled streets with very run down housing. The banks of the River Douro are enchanting with the Port houses on one side & the colourful buildings of the old town opposite. We visited Taylor's & learnt about the history & making of their Port & enjoyed a little tasting, ending the day with dinner outdoors on the river front opposite.
