OOJAH's AWESOME ODYSSEY

We have had to motor just about the whole 200nm we have come from Canaveral due lack of wind, but we have crossed a State boundary which felt good. We're now in Georgia & have come to realise that the USA is huge. Florida was one massive beach with miles of ribbon development on shore. The Georgia coast is much less populated & is made up of a string of "barrier islands" enclosing significant areas of water. The highlight was Cambridge Island, a national park comprising thin forest & a handful of abandoned buildings from the time of cotton growing & slavery. We spent a lovely day ashore walking.
Because shallow sand banks stretch out 5 or 10 miles each time we come inside to anchor takes several hours of additional sailing so tomorrow we're going to put in a 24 hour push to reach Charlestown 150nm away. The weather is a very pleasant, 25C by day & 15C at night, so the duvet has come out after 18 months & fleeces are needed first thing, but we've seen very little rain. Can't be bad

Love to all, Peter & Christene
