OOJAH's AWESOME ODYSSEY

From Svendborg we went South to anchor in the Thorobund & then spent 2 days weather bound in the very sweet little town of Rudkoping on the island of Langland - we have now spent quite a while roaming the characterful old towns & villages in  wind & rain. However when it all calmed down we enjoyed a good sail to an anchorage on the NE side of Agerso & for the first time on this cruise picked up a mooring buoy. it was not a particularly quiet night but the noise changed just after dawn. Our mooring line had severed where it passed (twice) round the buoy & we were hanging on a light back up line - lucky. Conditions were such that we had to move & we opted for a “lively passage’ north up the Store Belt to Ballen on the island of Samso to the North of Fyn as further bad weather was in the offing. There we had our first go at mooring bow in to a “box” formed by 2 stern posts & the pontoon ahead - the normal for the Baltic. It’s an interesting manoeuvre in a strong crosswind as the wind was too much for the bow thruster & Oojah lunged for the yacht alongside. Help appeared from nowhere (self interest in the case of the next door boat) & order was quickly restored but it did nothing for Christene’s confidence.
Samso (pictured) was a lovely island on which to await the next weather window.

Best regards to all, Peter & Christene
