This week we had intended to sail up to the island of La Palma, the most NE of the Canaries but neither the forecast, or in the end the actual weather, was up to a 100nm round trip so we're still here. The only nice day this week was Monday when we went on a bus ride across Gomera. It was quite spectacular although it was a pity that a fire had done huge damage to woodland on the upper slopes in August. On Tuesday the wind was gusting up to 45kts with heavy showers & while the wind has dropped a bit we've had a huge amount of rain since. The sprayhood has leaked & it's come thro the headlining in the saloon. Christene has been thinking about catering for the crossing & I've begun the final check over of Oojah. Harvey & Sophia are coming out tonight for a week which will be fun & then we must make tracks for Las Palmas which already looks as if it'll be upwind!
