OOJAH's AWESOME ODYSSEY

We continued to work East through the BVI visiting Cooper Island, Trellis Bay on Tortola, & finally Virgin Gorda. While the islands are fundamentally very attractive almost every anchorage is laid out with mooring buoys like holiday camp pitches & the $30 per night fee irked after a year of free anchoring. There was also a huge concentration of Americans chartering which changed the whole dynamic of the world around us. While the charterers rushed from buoy to buoy to get the best pitches we made it a principle to anchor every night but ironically bent the anchor stock through about 30 degrees when it got stuck under a boulder - a local fork lift driver helpfully 'sort of' straightened it by dropping the forks on it, crudely redesigning it in the process, but it still seems to hold! After a meal out at The Last Resort we spent our final evening appropriately at the Bitter End Yacht Club opposite Neckar.

We were becoming increasingly apprehensive, or scared if you don't relish the prospect of 2 15 hour days healed right over battering your way through 6' high waves. We had a 160nn upwind passage to get back to Antigua where we are going to lay up for the hurricane season.
The catalyst for action was a slighly less unfavourable forecast & the sudden availability of a confirmed flight home overnight 26/27 May.
We now have a week in Jolly harbour to give Oojah some well earned tlc & pack up our home, after 12 months & 7,000nm at sea. We're really looking forward to seeing everyone again although I'm not quite sure how living in Pricilla for the summer is going to work out?

Much love to all & see you soon,

Peter & Christene x
