We had a good sail down to this special group of Islands. They surround what is or was a volcanic crater.
Most of the buildings you can see from the sea have to be on the rim of the crater. We sailed through the middle of it all.
The town of Thira is on the rim but it has a small port. Anchoring here is virtually impossible because of the depth close to the land. There are a few buoys which have been put in which you can tie to and run a line ashore.
As you can see the geology is fascinating with a lot of very red rocks. There are also some very black bits.
I didn't like the idea of leaving Minka on one of those buoys so I went around to the south coast to a marina
where I rafted up to a Canadian boat.
