After writing the last blog I thought it might make more sense with a chart.

The lower pencil points at Lavrio and the other Khalkis. The distance between them is about 65nm.

I was joined at the anchorage by a Swedish single handed yacht.

The day after anchoring when the wind had dropped I rowed ashore to find out how to get the bridge opened and to have a look at the town.

This is the railway station and is the end of the line as it doesn't go onto the island.

They still have the old turntable and water tower for steam trains.

There was an awful lot of graffiti on the abandoned railway buildings.

To go through the bridge you have to go to the port police and pay 18.77 euros. They only open it at night and call you up on the radio when it is your turn to go through.
