The locals in Bostanci were very friendly and helpful.

I managed to find a chandlers who sold Lofrans windlasses so I bought one and fitted it. As usual I got the biggest most powerful that I could. It has a 1500 watt motor rather than the 1000 of the old one. It was the same price as one in the UK so I was quite pleased.

The only real problem fitting it was caused because it has a cleat on top which stopped the anchor locker lid closing. Soon solved by cutting out a housing in the lid.

I will fill all the old holes and repaint the anchor locker when I am wintering somewhere.

I really enjoyed my stay In Bostanci and met some great Turkish people. I hope to go back and see them again on my way back from the the Black Sea.
