In Portugal at last. Never been here before. So far
it's great. They celebrated my arrival by stretching fishing nets right across
the river so I couldn't get up to the marina. apparently they only do this at
special times. Anyway, we got round the end of the net and moored up to a
pointoon outside the marina. Nice chap came and offered to open a bridge to let
me into the marina and he helped me tie up.
The journey has been tedious as I have motored for
all but an hour today. The good news is the engine has behaved beautifully with
no silly noises or vibrations so that bit of love and attention yestyerday was a
good investment.
I took some photos of fishing chaps as I left
Villagarcia it was only just becoming light.
I still don't know what they are doing.
They seem to have a hiab on the back of a boat
which digs down into the floating pens for something.
To the
right of this is the entrance to Viana do Castelo
I think you can see the Castelo on the skyline. You
can also see it has been a gloomy day.
I will stay here tomorrow if the forecast confirms
a southerly gale is coming through. The map shows I was experimenting again
trying to get intermediate positions marked and so avoiding the shortcuts
over the land.
