We rounded Finisterre in the gloom

and arrived in Muors in the Ria de Muros mid afternoon after a good sail. Not much wind to start with and the the wind dead behind but we deployed the pole and ran downwind with a single reef main on the preventer to starboard and a the genny poled out to port. As the wind increased to 18 knots so did our speed and at 7 knots in the right direction with the sun out south of Finisterre it was what it should be.
We rounded up into the Ria and arrived at Muros
where a new marina has been built since we were last here when we anchored off. Pedro, the marinero, was delightful and helpful with excellent English learnt at high school.
We had a good berth next to a Spanish registered Bavaria which at about 7pm decided to go out on a trip round the ria with about seven people on board of which at least five were non sailors.
They were to windward of us and in slow motion I watched the inevitable, Helen having told me not to get involved as it might invalidate our insurance! As they cast off their bow the 20 knot wind immediately whipped it over towards us and as he drove forward the boat ran down our side. Fortunately some fenders were already out and there was a lot of shouting and pushing and no damage done. We deployed extra fenders in readiness for their return which occurred at about nine thirty when thankfully the wind had dropped and Pedro had been called to assist.
Today the sun shone, the air is clear the visibility excellent and the natives friendly. The beach (100 yards away) beckoned after provisioning (supermarket 150 yards) and clothes washing (marina washing machine).

Fish was purchased at the local fish stall on the dock and veg bought at the market stall.
Supper on board——gambas followed by mackerel.

Off out to anchor up the ria tomorrow.
