We sailed into Huahine in the morning
![]() The pontoon was welcoming
![]() it was village water sports day with children's
swimming races and canoe racing
![]() The next day we hired a car. We to a Marae (an
archaelogical site) which was an old village.
![]() and then to vanilla farm
![]() the vanilla plants are an orchid and have to be
hand pollinated with one flower producing one pod (black when they are
ripe)
![]() Then to see the sacred eels (some over 50 years
old)swimming in fresh water in the middle of the village
![]() the colours on the far side of the island were
wonderful
![]() a lovely day off the boat. However the loo pipe
still had to be replaced----very difficult to remove but with Gunnar's help,
which was beyond the call of duty, we manged to do it. It was amazing that it
had worked at all as it was blocked with calcium deposit etc.
