The decks were given their final
sanding
![]() and the finished decks were much
admired
![]() We then set sail for Greece ----we made our port of
entry Rhodes in order to meet up with Ian Feasey (Henry's best man)
![]() Rhodes is a medieval city with an inner city within
the castle walls
![]() and a moat
![]() We left the following day for Nisos Tilos a small
island in the Dodecanese
![]() a pretty chapel on the hill
![]() Helen went ashore via ''the plank'' for provisions
and returned fully laden
![]() however the trip back across the plank was not so
successful----a 'corker' was the result shining in all it's glory the following
morning
![]() Astipalaia was the next island where we
arrived in the dark after a gruelling day at sea beating into a head wind and
boisterous seas. Dawn revealed a very pretty town
![]() a fort on the hill
![]() we moored alongside the quay out of the way of the
ferry
![]() so much safer than using the plank! The eye was
getting better
![]() In order to try and get a better westing we made an
overnight passage to Nisos Sifnos where we anchored and had breakfast and a
shower
![]() before moving on in the afternoon 15 miles to Nisos
Serifos in order to have a better angle on the wind and a shorter distance for
the next day's sail.
The following morning, after a night of
catabatic wind, we set sail and found that we were able to make Poros
on one tack as the wind veered, as forecast, to the north. A pretty island and
town.
Tom, Nadine, Yannick and Katinka arrived on the
hydrafoil from Athens having flown down from Paris.
![]() They have rented a lovely apartment high up above
the town---fine if you are a mountain goat but more challenging for a family
with two youngsters, push chairs and suit cases! We had a day out on the boat on
Thursday and motored over to an anchorage for lunch and a swim. Katinka had a
snooze on the way
![]() and Yannick was soon testing the temperature
of the water
![]() before taking the plunge
![]() followed by a light lunch (he ate the whole bowl of
pasta)
![]() whilst granny looked after Katinka
![]() we returned to Poros but this time moored alongside
and Yannick took himself and his biscuit up to the bow to reflect upon his busy
day
