We left Combarro this morning to go to Cangas opposite Vigo. Just after leaving we found water spraying in all directions and the bilges half full. The 3 point taste (fresh water, salt water or heads) was conducted and fresh water diagnosed. It was only leaking when under pressure so we turned off the pump and sailed on. The windex failed yet again so a new mast head unit is being sent from Lymington to Baiona where we should pick it up on Wednesday or Thursday. A trip up the mast awaits to fit it so I am being especially nice to Helen as she controls the ropes down below!!
We arrived at Cangas to find a full Marina with one space at the far end of two pontoons with very little space. Getting in might have been ok as there was little wind and the prop walk would have helped but not for getting out. So we chickened out as we did not wish to become embayed or whatever you call it in a marina.
We went across the river to Vigo where we went into the Club Nautico Marina. An even tighter fit as we were pushed in between other boats that were attached to the pontoon with a stern line behind. It was not until we were in that we noticed that most other boats were stern-to so that it was easy to get ashore. Luckily nobody on the next boat so that is our route ashore!
We cleared the boat of all the wet stuff (the Fray Bentos had survived as they are now stowed under the bunk in the fore cabin) and we found the joint that had come apart because of what we think was undue pressure from a blocked Jabsco in line water filter----now replaced and we are drying out or at least the boat is-----we are off to wet our insides!
