We spent a few days in Cascais waiting for less
northerly wind so that we could continue our passage up the Portuguese coast.
This time we went into the marina which was good if not a bit dull.
![]() Thierry and Corinne on Eroica (a Wauquiez
''Pretorien 35.5'') were with us as we had been passage making together
since meeting up off Tarifa Point in the Gibraltar Straits on that rather windy
morning!
![]() The town is lovely with good beaches
![]() ![]() and bars and restaurants eager for
business
![]() A guitarist from Brazil sang a few
songs
![]() and that encouraged Thierry and Corinne to give a
recital
![]() We contacted Carlos and Diana Gomes, fellow Cornish
Shrimper owners, who live in Sintra
and they came down for drinks. They brought their
Shrimper to Falmouth (by road!) a few years ago for Shrimper Week and came to
supper with us in Flushing so it was good to see them again.

![]() We went to the light house, Farol de Sta
Marta
![]() great views across the bay
![]() and also back into a little cove where we swam in
afternoon. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor used to stay at the house in the
foreground on the left of the inlet
![]() As we had decided to leave early the following
morning we left the marina and anchored out ready for an early departure. Eroica
anchored out on our starboard side and at first light in the early morning we
left to make our way north.
