Having sailed from Yachthaven we abandoned our
original plan to sail straight to Phi Phi Don and anchored half way arriving at
Phi Phi the next day. A wet day did not deter us from a climb to the view point
from where you could see both bays and clearly identify the isthmus of
land that was ravaged by the tsunami
![]() A coffee stop at Phi Phi Lee the next
day enabled Lucy to see the location for the film 'The Beach'----as usual
vast numbers of boats and people
![]() ![]() Back to Phuket in order to attend the ''shipping
dinner'' and a visit beforehand to reprovision in Ao Chalong, visit Big
Buddah and the Temple complex.
![]() ![]() Major expansion works were taking place and the
site will eventually look like this
![]() then to the temple
![]() via a quick stop at the elephants
![]() The next morning we took Lucy to our favourite
anchorage at Koh Racha Yai where the water was crystal clear and the snorkelling
excellent. By this time Lucy had changed from black and grey clothes to a
colourful blue!---seen here sporting her Sevenstars shipping cap!
![]() On the return sail to Panwa Bali we experienced yet
another fouling of the propeller----this time in a narrow channel with a strong
ebbing tide. Mark went over the side with a sharp knife-- we did not anchor the
theory being that both Mark and the boat would be swept by the tide at the same
speed. It was not quite the case but he managed to free the obstruction that
turned out to be a rice/sand bag.
![]() Having said farewell to a ''sun reddened'' Lucy we
sailed the next day to the Yachthaven Marina passing the fishing boats en
route
![]() We then began to strip Marita down in readiness for
shipping taking the sails off, removing halyards and sheets and all the other
removable bits and pieces that were on deck.
Camelot sailed up the next day for a farewell
supper
![]() and came for a cup of coffee the next morning
also helping to raise Mark up the mast to do a pre Mediterranean check and
remove the SSB radio cable from the backstay which has to be detached before
Marita is lifted onto the ship
![]() Mark was careful not to fall through the newly
replaced dodger---a brilliant job done by Pla of Canvas Creations
![]() and then a fond and sad farewell to Gunnar,
Vibecke, Julia, Oscar and 'Camelot' after 15
months of sailing together.
