today we visited a pearl farm which was
fascinating. We had a talk given by the manager about how cultured pearls are
cultivated together with a demonstration using a recently harvested
oyster---out popped a beautiful silver grey pearl!

We move on tomorrow morming to Rangiroa the
second biggest atoll in the world---it is about 100 miles to sail so we will
leave here about midday with the sun high so that hopefully we can spot the
bommies and arrive the next day at midday to enter that lagoon and again avoid
the bommies.
