We sailed from Cooktown at 0600 for the 50 mile passage to Lizard Island. We left early in order to try and avoid the stronger afternoon wind----also sleep was not easy on that anchorage! We averaged just over 7 knots in winds of 25 to 30 knots and we are now anchored in the lee of the island with about 15 other boats, including Camelot who arrived twenty four hours earlier.
