Azores
to Dartmouth, Day 9 - Friday June 11, 2010 At
1200 hrs UT: 48:52.2N
10:02.3W Distance
to Dartmouth: 262 Nautical Miles After a very taxing few days, marking the end of our umpteenth storm, the sea state has finally become much less foreboding (and more forboating) and the sun and music have returned. With roughly 200 miles to go and the Isles of Scilly (off the southwest coast of England) likely visible by mid-day tomorrow, the crew has become a bit restless and the meal plan more creative. What in the world does one pair with tinned corned beef anyway? In
anticipation of our arrival, some aboard have even begun to engage in a more
socially acceptable hygiene regiment, while others have embraced their new
Bedouin look, yours included. At
sunrise, we crossed onto the Continental Shelf and began bearing almost due
east past the Celtic Sea and into the English Channel. As a result, we
brace for a significant increase in commercial traffic, so those on night
watch will need to at least feign consciousness for a few more
knights. It
shouldn’t be too long now…
