Yesterday the sun was out end wind easing. John
discorvered a tear in the furling sail, about 10m up. Kristen got hoisted
up to inspect and a section of the furling forstay profile came undone and
subsequently chafed through and teared furling jib about a foot from the
leading edge of the sail ca 12ft from the top of the sail.
We took the sail down, relieved tension on the
forestay with the innerforestay. Luckily the z-screws were still in place, and
the aluminum profile wasnt damaged so we got the profile together again. We're
sailing on our spare jib (which is bit uv degraded) and doing fine now.
Obviously these two screews missed loctite (we check the others, and there were
residue)
We all congratulated ourselves with a cold beer
(nonalcoholic). All thanks to the crew for great teamwork!.
Later that night at Johns watch, Kristen came out
jabbering norwegian about keeping the boat in lee of the island... a bit tired I
guess...
We lost a few miles east fixing the sail, but winds
been very nice in the 20's and shooting along at 7.5kts towards Horta. Only
1360nm to go. Distance sailed last 23hrs 164nm

I går var sola ute og vinden roet seg litt. John
oppdaget en flenge i rulleforseilet omtrent 10m opp. Kristen ble heist opp for
undersøke, og en seksjon av rulleforstagsprofilen hadde løsnet. De skarpe
kantene hadde gnisset istykker seilet og revnet ca 30cm av det, rundt 4m fra
toppen.
Vi tok ned seilet, slakket på forstaget ved stramme
inn innerforstaget. Heldigvis var z-skruene på plass, og aluminiumsprofilen var
ikke ødelagt. Vi fikk profilen sammen igjen. Vi seiler nå på reserve forseilet
(som er uv-skadet) og gjør god fart. Åpenbart manglet disse to skruene
loctite, vi sjekket alle de andre, og det var loctiterester på
de.
Vi gratulerte oss selv med en kald øl (alkoholfri).

Senere på Johns nattevakt, kom Kristen på dekk og
skravlet norsk om at båten måtte holdes i le av øya... Litt sliten
kanskje...
Vi mistet noen mil østover mens vi ordnet seilet,
men bra vind rundt 10m/s sørvest gjør vi rundt 7.5knot mot Horta. Bare 1360nm
igjen. Utseilt distanse siste 23t 164nm,
utseilt totalt 467nm
