Half way there

Today we crossed the half way mark in miles and hopefully a little more than half way in days. We’ve been rather conservative in our routing, because we have found in the past that it is wise to add 10 knots to the Grib figures, especially where there might be a front going through. This has led to being in winds lighter than we would have liked and rather slow progress. We’ve now decided that the weather reports we are getting are much more accurate than we have been used to, so we have routed ourselves back into stronger winds and have picked up the pace again.

John spent half an hour this morning in the company of a large pod of bottle-nosed dolphins just as the sun was coming up, but sadly, no more sightings of whales.
