Some sad news

I'm writing this back in the UK. Andrea and I flew back on Sunday after we received the sad news that Andrea's father, Keith, passed away early on Sunday morning. Saxon Blue is still in Akureyri being looked after by Kali and we'll fly back out to rejoin her soon but I'm not sure when at the moment.

Before we heard the news, we were in the Myvatn area exploring the volcanic geology. We walked around a volcanic crater, explored bubbling mud pools and still-warm lava fields. We even went swimming/lounging in a geothermally heated spa complex where the water was so sulphrous that it turned Andrea's silver rings black. It was all totally amazing but I'm struggling to recall the details now after our almost instant teleportation back to the UK via Keflavik and Heathrow. We had a quick pitstop at home which was surreal then into the car for the journey up to Leeds to be with Andrea's family.

Keith was one of the most enthusiastic supporters of our trip and urged us to continue with it in spite of his health issues. He will be sadly missed.

We will be continuing with both the trip and the blog in due course.
