Not sure if you remember one of my earlier blogs about the
glowing algae that lights up our evening shifts as the blades plough through the
water (sorry...blades elegantly slice through the water)? Well last night I got
the light show to surpass all others. It was on one of the shifts
in the middle of the night, the stars were all out and the moon had yet to rise.
The algae as usual was dancing around the edge of the boat and we seemed to go
through a patch of water where the whole sea seemed to start flashing at
once. One of our theories is that fish had triggered off the algae,
but it started to flash underwater all around. It's one of those moments
that it's difficult to articulate but at the time are magical. It went on for
probably 10 minutes before going back to it's previous state. Another fantastic
memory to chalk up to the row...if anyone else has a theory as to what it was,
excluding aliens or glowing sea creatures...please let me know :-)
Forgot to mention that I'm a lottery winner. For the
unofficial boat Christmas I got a present of some scratch cards from the lottery
to while away the days..and I'm an official winner. I'll not be investing my
winnings wisely, in fact I may invest the whole £2 in a Rum and Coke on the
beach in Antigua...."Lottery winner blows all cash in drunken
binge"
It's a warm one today, but the seas are pushing us from behind
and we're making good progress...fingers crossed we can hit our target
today...just over 4 days to the mid point :-) Life remains unchanged and the
routine ticks along. We're going to try and post a picture to the blog in the
next few days....fingers crossed! Still haven't got around
to learning the words to Jerusalem yet! so much to do and so little time.
I understand from our various weather sources James, Hans,
Andrew that we are due for good weather for the next few days, hopefully we can
get some miles in the bank. My father in law Gabriel is so
right when he describes this as eating an elephant. Its tricky to set
mental goals, just like with the 5 days on the para-anchor going nowhere these
lead to disappointment.
