The title of my first Blog suggested we were in the final straight.. well whats that all about.. we havent even started the race yet. But for those 'wannabe' rowers whatch out, its feels like a marathon just to get to the start... and thats even when we bought a second hand boat. Hats off to all those who built there own boats aswell. Either they 'were' married, are single, loaded or simply too much time available etc no doubt we will meet these people on the start line. They will be the ones wearing united team colours and having a flottila following them out to sea. The other thing to think of if considering rowing and ocean, ironically, is your fitness will suffer. well mine has...i simply have not had the time or inclination to want train. I have never been so unfit as now and I am sorry to all my cycling chums, especially Graham who I have snubbed over the last year or so. I'm sure they understand and If they do perhaps they can explain it to me... I am confident that 20 odd years of doing silly events on bikes, running or rowing, my fitness will be fine for having a couple of months off.
One week to go before we fly out and I am trying not to think tooo much about it.. time is now flying by.
