Row Across The Pond
Richard Hoyland and Steve Coe

Richard's meagre thoughts....
The challenge is back on (if it ever vanished that is) and the
routine of rowing is back on the boat. We had our first proper night of the
punishing routine for nearly a week now and it may be sad and
slightly perverse to say but I enjoyed being back in the groove despite the
tiredness / aches&pains / moods etc. We're also starting to up the
eating again as our bodies cry out for more calories, so the full meal
schedule along with the snack bags is on the agenda...(found a big bar of
Green & Blacks chocolate in a snack bag...big thanks to Lou for this
particular gem).
We've got a good tailwind today and are making really good
speed it's going to be an on target day hopefully..plus the reports are looking
good until the weekend....unless anyone can tell us differently?
And Steve's.....
An exciting blog today,as we are now rowing after being on the
anchor for 5 days... whoopeeeeee,,,, shortly weather permitting we will be half
way,, who'd of thought,,, eta sunday but lets not run away with ouselves,
the moment you do that the seas will have something to say.. thats me being
cautious rather than negative.I think we are doing ok in amongst the rest of the
fleet and now most if not all boats will be on their main course
for antigua, there should not be too manyh position changes,, We just have
tokeep up the tempo and chip away... I'm not even going to say for how
long for obvious reasons....the boat is performing just fine
and is well set up for a range of small but significant comforts
which make our days a tad more bearable. As youy may be aware, we row
backwards and the sun in the late afternoon, setting towards the west,
shines straight through into the aft cabin access hatch. The heat of the sun is
so strong it makes the cabin unbearable, We now have a curtain, well more like a
venetian T towel (loraine you would be proud of us) which creates
ample shade.. top stuff. all good on this little ship...
