If ever you are looking for a holiday to get away from it all, then this would be an ideal break which will meet or even exceed your expectations.. Although fairly remote, it doesn't always seem so, although barren, it is teeming with life right below your feet. The climate is great if your a sun worshiper and if you want a break from the hub bub and noise of land life then this is for you..   Here, you will frequently be visited by dolphins, whales, sharks and possibly turtles. There is an abundance of fish both in and around your boat, and watching the elegance and skills of the sea birds skimming the waves with ease will keep you entertained for hours. As for the food, there is an abundance of fresh fish ready for the taking...

If your concerned about the cost, you need not be, there are many savings to be had. There are no shops ready to fleece you, there are no guided tours to go on, there is no evening entertainment to pay for, there are no additional transport costs or parking fees and furthermore its not child friendly, so there's a saving on ice cream straight away...

However,  the primary activity, if not a little bit excessive for some, is the need to row your self along..  I must hasten to add, the experience would not be the same if your own efforts were replaced, lets say with a noisy engine, or sails which would, i agree make it a little easier, but thats kind of cheating,  less effort obviously equates to less reward and any personal satisfacation otherwise to be gained.  Simple formulae that is simply non negotiable..

Qualifications required, taste for a bit of an adventure and a sense of curiosity.. oh and the ability to row will help as well...

Just been visited by friendly school of dolphins who played happily along and around the boat for a few mins..

If I could ask any blog reader to do me a favour

Yesterday we met up with the boat Nyamezeya rowed by Peter the bird mender  (he took on board an injured storm petrel and allowed it stay  until recovered)  looking at pete with his bushy wild beard, i'm not sure he didn't have minds of eating it but the bird escaped before the frying pan came out... .
Anyhow, we were probably the only people he had seen since leaving 50 od days ago... only to find an hour or so later we left him to his own devices,,, later that day we heard pete calling us on the VHF,, which in the past three or so days we had been in commuinication.. On many of those occassions, Petes radio could transmit better than ours, therefore we could hear him but he could not recieve us.. something to do with our aerial....Anyhow, three or four hours after we left Pete, we heard him calling us, but we were simply out of range,,, Could someone send him a message from us (No Fear) saying stop behaving like Dr Doolittle and get on with the rowing.. a beer will be ready and waiting oh and good luck steve and rich
