So sorry you had to navigate your way around all the spelling mistakes in my last (if not)all my bloggs.I make no excuse it must be painful to read and i will try much harder... there are tougher situations than getting spelling correct..
A brief message for my mate graham who was concerned as to whether i was eating properly and getting his messages. He knows me on too well as being particularly lazy when it comes to drinking and eating properly during sport... (bless him). In this instance I have to confess I am now on the uptake for such a philosophy and indeed am partaking in masses of food and now fluids,,, it is almost constant... thanks for your concern,, or perhaps you weren't concerned just interested!!!! Ha.
Hans from Byfleet Boat club has been offering support to us re weather, positioning and our regime.. which for your info, if you don't already know is 1 hour on and a 1 hour off during day and 2 on 2 off during the night...  this is how we started and will be different from many others.. however, the routine is the important element and whatever is sustainable. To have almost any longer than 2 hours during the day (we have tried) in the high temps is really tough on the oars as it is quite exhaustuing, good luck to those that do. It does however give a longer rest period.. the equation and proportions are the same for any equal work rest period between the crew. The other day we hit a rocky patch which hurt a little and this could be attributed to the schedule.. We are going to continue adapting to this pattern which in time will i hope work.. Note the intensity and our performance output is on a balance.. but hey thats a challenge.
moreover, we are just about to receive a visit from the support vessel ocean planet... but they wont stop, just say hello then go... good. nah not really.
We are receiving many messages of support via the woodvale site but due to the cost for us to download such a large file via satellite we are not aware of what and who they are from. this is a big shame,,, all your emails to our rowacrossthepond adress on our web site re excellent and keep us entertained thank you.  I cannot believe how many people are interested in what we are doing. i'm sure our account is not doing it full justice,, but i hope a slice of life on the ocean wave is filtering through. It is a far cry away from the v cold winter in the UK... Last night the sky was again full of the most amazing star systems wiith shooting stars and meteorites burning brightly. The night skies are friendly and get us though the night. This is the time to think and be away from the usual stresses of daily life. Francis, thank you for message of support via your email,,,, I wish you all to be well at home and i will find a star for everybody tonight.
tomorrow, i need to adress the subject of ironing and other things?
gotta go for a row...
steve

Time on the oars gives you plenty of time to mull over things and loads of random thoughts tend to happen during the long night shifts. Its the time when you tend to get most reflective on the challenge and also bits and pieces from your everyday life. Last night I got to thinking about the family and what futures lie ahead for my fantastic children Ben, Freya and Willow. We've already talked about Ben's future as a Chelsea striker, but what abouyt Freya and Willow. Freya is an obvious one, she's going to be a singing sensation..she's a fantastic street dancer already and has a natural rhythm that seems to be removed from most other Hoylands. Freya is also the sensitive one in our family and is the most likely to be a creative-type so don't discount world famous artist.
Willow being the third child in the family is the wildchild and I suspect that Willow grow up to follow different directions like the wind. She is the enrgetic rough and tumble one and is a constant noise around the house. Strange how you miss those little things which are normally an irritation but you die to hear out here...how great it would be to here the squabbling of the kids over whether to watch CBBC or Cbeebies ;-) Now we hve realised the massive cost of calling satellite phones I fear that my most contact with the family will be via mails and the blogs...maybe this could be a return to old fashion writing to each other?
Louise is doing a marvelous job holding the house and home together as only she can..(message to Ben Freya Willow...you'd better be helping mummy out....or I will bore you for hours with picture of the rowing trip as punishment).

The support yacht has just come past to check up on us again..how quick they are in comparison to us...cheats with their sails!

Big thanks to all those sending support, many thanks Abigail-it's great to get emails, Gabriel, thanks for the little motivational pieces, my mum-just for being my mum and showing me undying support, AndrewE for the weather and race updates and to all other keeping us going :-)
