We have now had the pleasure of the company, albeit brief visitations of 3 whales..Last night on my shift a whale repeatadely emerged nearby.. I did not realise just how special it is when these creatures show themselves and i cannot explain why either!! There seems something quite mystical about them more so than anything else so far seen.. the shark was interesting, i hasten to add..

The planetarium was fully open again last night and i can explain why the scenery is so different than any other place on earth.. Quite simply, and obviously, on a flat calm sea, you can watch stars emerge from the horizon full 360 degress.. this is not possible on land and bookham'ites (or land lubbers) only ever get to to see the heavens above because there are trees and buildings in the way, i appologise if i have just mentioned the obvious...

The other day, perhaps we forgot to mention, we saw a school of dolphin or a load of dolphins going to school, there must have been hundreds of them. An image sprung to mind of how nature is pretty cruel.. In amongst these dolphins happily jumping and playing the waves, i could visualise (lets face it, this may have happened) a killer whale launching itself amidst the pack of dolphins, capturing one in its huge jaws and hurtling the dolphin high into the air as a play thing.. Nah did not happen,, but believe me most days the seas offer what seem to be squabbles and battles amongst the marine life.... these creatures may look nice but there KILLERS  too.... it is a tough environment out here, survival and all that.....

We had our own battle to fight again, and that was cross and head winds.. most unfavourable.... Oh!! how the sea gods love to have fun with us bi peds,,,,
