Another day of waiting for a break in the weather that will allow the fleet to start out into the Atlantic...it's a terrible form of mental torture for the rowers.
We went to a 9:30am daily meeting this morning to get an update on the weather position but still no change...we may have a window early next week, but as we've found out this could change very quickly. A number of the teams have professional weather support for their campaigns and all these teams are pooling their information to get a definitive picture.

Some have paid for flights off the island on the understanding that the decision to go could mean that they need to return the next day if the weather breaks. Meanwhile back on La Gomera we've moved into yet another apartment that will see us through to Monday next week...others are sleeping on the boats. La Gomera has just finished a national holiday and so the locals are flooding back into the town of San Sebastien and the town has a buzz about it again.

Still, this preiod of inactivity gives us an idea of the kind of pace we will experience when at sea, long days dragging out before us with nothing to look forward to but the time on the oars, food or a snatched period of sleep. A tough and simple life. Tomorrow to break the boredom we are going out for a sail on one of the support yachts, Ocean Planet, which is a real thoroughbred racing yacht designed for fast single-handed sailing...stripped of all comforts she's designed to be a fast emergency response yacht in the event of problems during the race...fingers crossed for some wind.
