Lifting the anchor and leaving Cefalù for Palermo… 

My friends sent me the note, saying that they are travelling to Rome at a speed of 6-6.5 knots… And they have to slow down, actually, due to some issues… 

I’m jealous. We are making 3 - 3.5 knots… when we are lucky!   But no complains — no motor is used, and the winds is really light… Between 5 and 8 knots… If I’m judging right! 

The main reason I’m rushing a bit —  further down the week, the weather-fairy-tellers are forecasting  some northerly and westerly winds… Up to may be 20 knots… with some swell…. And I’m getting a bit lazy, and would prefer to be in a Palermo  ( near Palermo ), in a  good protected harbour…  Just to be quit at night… 

But I doubt I’ll get to Palermo today… The wind is dying… But more importantly — the days are getting shorter.  Much shorter… Shortly after seven — the Sun set… Plus… The harbours are surrounded by magnificent mountains… But mostly from the West side… and consequently, are taking another hour from the day light…  On the other hand,  arriving at completely new place after dark… Well, of course it is doable… But what the point, if  I can avoid it easily ?! ;-)  I’m not in a rush, right ?!

And this is on the picks mountains on the coast of Sicily. What strikes me most — the similarity of the picture with the Pico mountain on the Azores… 

Af course, the Pico mountain — much, much bigger… But… very, very similar!  I’m saying that — to illustrate my point that as more you are travelling, more and more you see something similar… And it changing you a bit… When local people are saying —‘ Look! Look at it!!! ‘, you are answering  — if not loud, but internally —  yes, I’ve seen it already… ‘…

So, we did not make it to Palermo. The I want to drop the anchor before the dark.  And though less then 10 miles left…  we turned to the harbour for the night.  We are going to stay in Capo Zafferano harbour… and continue early in the morning…
