847 nm miles passed....
Today is a week as I left Antigua...
And the funny part -- I have to check with the log in order to confirm -- yes,
a week...
It is a known fact, that as we are living on
land, living 'normal life' -- a lot of things are taken for granted.
Example -- you may answer the question ' Where are you ?' at any moment.
With a different scale of details.. At home, with friends... at the table in the
office... Etc, etc, etc. Even if you are within completely unknown
place -- like say, a new town for you, like Paris, Madrid, London, Moscow...
You can easily describe where you are... It is so natural
-- to know where you are, in time, in space... at any given
moment.
Plesently, I'm in the Ocean. The GPS
gives me location where I'm on the surface of the Earth... Compasses gives
me direction ( actually, directions, each is slightly different ;-) ) to
the North... Which in its own turn, migrates every year anyway...
I look around... 360 degrees around -- blue water,
merging with the horizon... On top -- blue sky .... Left, right,
forward, behind -- all the same... And even if I know where the
North, where the Sourth -- does not help much...
Canadian Government cannot agree on simple
question which country I'm in... Russian government does not
care, the rest of the world -- does not know about my
exsitence... I say I'm going to Azores... That is fine... But what if the
belivers in theory that the Earth is flat are right?! ;-)
I love the books and the moves, which adults
wrote and make for themselves, pretending that they are for the
kids... Pirates of the Caribbean -- is one of them... I can
quote my favourite personage -- Captain Barbossa -- saying ' Before you find
where to go, you should get completely lost.. ' ( Sorry, if the wording is
a bit different... ).
And that is where I'm now -- being
totally lost, is space, in time... And
Barbossa's saying woks, magic happened! My to do list and plans
are growing faster then I can put them on a paper! ;-) Magic of
the Ocean, of the long passage, of persons left on remote shores... But enough of that phylosophical nonesence...
We are fine. We --
SV Eleonora & myself -- are moving 036 T
course, slowly progressing NE direction (
wherever it is pointing... ) I can only run one sail -- gennaker
for now -- since the wind is exactly from behind... It is only 12-13 knots
of wind... and our progress at the moment ~ 5 knots... Though
it is slow -- Eleonora gliding gracefully over nearly flat
surface... Dark sky with stars on top, the Moon --
or whatever left from her --- in a couple of hours...
Tomorrow and Friday should be the same -- if the
weather tale teller is right... But that is tomorrow, it does not even exist
yet... ;-)
The pork is in the oven... Bottle of wine in the
fridge... Salad... ;-) Sounds of waves... Sound of the pen on
the scratch pad, on which I'm writing my 'Great Plans For the
Future..' Does not matter how real they are... We
are in wonderland of the Hight Seas...
We are fine!
