Passage from Komodo Island
to Medana Bay, Lombok –
14th to 16th September
Distance of 210 miles. We left the anchorage at 20:00 to head
west to Lombok. The first night sail was for the most
part under motor with a couple of brief sails when the wind picked up. To avoid arriving into Medana Bay in
the middle of the night, we decided to make an afternoon stop over at Satonda Island. This small island seemed pretty quiet
with a large lagoon occupying the majority of its centre. Jennifer and the boys went snorkelling
and took a trip ashore to explore the island. Charlie and Oliver then went diving
along the reef in front of Astra
whilst the rest of us relaxed onboard.
We left around 16:00 to continue
our 108Nm sail to Medana Bay.
We had the fishing rods out trolling for the last few daylight hours and
failed to catch anything yet again.
We went through patches of decent wind throughout the night which allowed
us to sail for periods of time. We
arrived into Medana Bay at 10:30am on the 16th with
approximately 15 other yachts in this pleasant looking
bay.
