"15th July - Folly Inn, River Medina"
We woke to another beautiful warm morning and
enjoyed breakfast in the cockpit. Our plan for the day was to sail to
Cowes and up the River Medina to the well known Folly Inn for lunch. The
truth is that there was no wind, so we had to motor. Once we arrived the
choice was to book a berth overnight or to have lunch and continue to motor on
eastwards. It was so gloriously hot, that we decided to save the
money on the expense of fuel and spend it on an overnight stay! This done
we had lunch, followed by an afternoon nap (whilst waiting for the temperature
to drop) and then we went for a walk along the river bank to Newport.
We have heard that the good weather is to continue
for another two weeks, if this is the case I wonder if we will ever arrive home,
it is certainly wonderful to be sailing (at least trying to) in the UK in
such glorious warm conditions. When we arrived in the cold in Falmouth, we
wondered why on earth we had sailed back to Britain, but now we know.
I hope the summer weather lasts until we reach home, that
would make a perfect end to our travels.
