"16th June Day 4 Azores - Falmouth"
Only 830km to go! The past 24hrs have
been a much slower passage than we have grown used too, only covering 100km. We
have struggled and succeeded in not allowing ourselves to be pushed too far
south. I did say to Noel that if we ended up in Vigo there would be a
mutiny as I would head south and not north! We reduced the sails so that
at least we were heading the wrong way slowly. Now we are
in the process of shaking out the reefs and giving Whisper her head once
again. The seas were enormous last night and very confused, slowly
the wind came around over night and we are now running alongside our rhumb line
once again having crossed over to the east of it.
The sun is shining which is gorgeous but
sitting in the cockpit is asking for trouble, so to stay dry and warm we
are sheltering below. The wind is from the NW at the moment and certainly
has a frosty chill about it.
All is well on board and its Fray Bentos Chicken
& Mushroom Pie for dinner! I wonder which of us will get the
mushroom?
